A fresh orange, a cup of coffee
Warm morning sunlight breaks through the white drapes
Of a cold, lonely winter morning.
I look back to the bed, and see a pale thigh,
A tussle of wavy chestnut hair,
Entangled within the nest of floral print bedsheets
Turning to stare back out my hotel room window,
I realize that it will never be certain what the day may bring...
But in this moment, this quiet peace,
I take solace in the knowledge that everything is good,
And perfect,
And I smile...
I love this short-but-sweet piece. It makes me think of someone I deeply care about.
ReplyDeleteJER, perhaps I can earn your trust and get to know you better.
Thank you Sera.
ReplyDeletePerhaps some time I'll let you know who I am,
maybe the next time we hang out.
But that's not too often,
so for now I'll let you guess.
I'll give a hint however,
That we've known each other for several years now,
And so I've watched your art grow and evolve over time.
